The Latest: Vondrousova moves into French Open semifinals

9:23 p.m.

Czech teenager Marketa Vondrousova needed four match points to end a four-match losing streak against Petra Martic and reach the semifinals at the French Open.

Vondrousova prevailed 7-6 (1), 7-5 over the 31st-seeded Martic.

“It was a very tough match, I had lost to her four times before, I think Roland Garros is my lucky place,” said the 19-year-old player.


7 p.m.

Roger Federer has finished off a 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over friend and fellow Swiss player Stan Wawrinka to reach the French Open semifinals.

It sets up the 39th career meeting between Federer and longtime rival Rafael Nadal.

Nadal has won all five meetings with Federer at Roland Garros.


6:52 p.m.

Rafael Nadal has advanced to a record-extending 12th Roland Garros semifinal with a 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 win over Kei Nishikori.

“I’m very satisfied, it’s incredible, lots of emotions,” Nadal said. “To be back in the semifinals is something very, very important.”
