SportsPulse: If you’re complaining about the USWNT’s dominance and exuberance in their historic beatdown of Thailand, then the World Cup isn’t for you.
PHILADELPHIA – Eagles tight end Zach Ertz was in a hurry to get done with practice Tuesday afternoon, the first day of the team’s mandatory minicamp.
That’s because his wife, Julie, was about to play in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and Ertz, dressed in his personalized Team USA jersey with the name, “Mr. Ertz” on the back, wasn’t about to miss it.
Eagles coach Doug Pederson told Ertz to skip the afternoon meetings so he could go home and watch the game.
“It was fun,” Ertz said Wednesday about Team USA’s 13-0 win over Thailand in its opening game. “Hopefully all the games are like that. Not a lot of stress involved watching that game. All the hard work – they’ve been grinding – and to go out and execute like that, it was exciting to watch.”
