Colts have a deadline for determining Andrew Luck's Week 1 availability

A deadline has been set. Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich said the team will need to know if Andrew Luck can play in the season opener following the Colts’ third preseason game.

Of course they’d prefer to know the status of their star quarterback sooner, but Reich made it clear following Wednesday’s joint practice session with the Cleveland Browns, that following the Colts’ Aug. 24 game, they need to know if Luck will be ready for the Sept. 8 season opener in Los Angeles. 

“Ideally, the more time you have the better. But by the end of the third preseason game, I think we just have to know something,” Reich said. “We have to be able to make the call and move from there, whether we’re full speed with Andrew or not after that third preseason game. Or at that point, are we going to go with Jacoby (Brissett). So we’ll make that decision when that time comes.”
