PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A capsule look at the five previous U.S. Opens held at Pebble Beach Golf Links:

YEAR: 2010

WINNER: Graeme McDowell

SCORE: 284

MARGIN: 1 shot

RUNNER-UP: Gregory Havret

EARNINGS: $1,350,000

SUMMARY: McDowell made only one birdie — an 8-foot putt on No. 5 — and closed with a 3-over 74 for the highest final round by a U.S. Open champion in 25 years. That was all that was required on a tough Sunday that eliminated a cast of stars trying to keep pace. The biggest collapse belonged to Dustin Johnson, who lost his three-shot lead with a triple bogey on the second hold, followed with two double bogeys and shot 82. Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els were all poised to make a run, and none did. Woods bogeyed five of his first 10 holes and shot 75. Els briefly was tied for the lead until playing a three-hole coastal stretch in 4 over. Mickelson birdied the first hole and didn’t make another birdie. McDowell (Northern Ireland) became the first European winner of the U.S. Open since Tony Jacklin of England in 1970.
