For golfers teeing off at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California for the 2019 U.S. Open, there is more than $2.16 million and a sterling silver trophy at stake.

Reigning champion Brooks Koepka returns in pursuit of his third straight U.S. Open after becoming the first player to win back-to-back titles in 29 years. If he accomplishes the three-peat, Koepka will only be the second player to win the U.S. Open in three consecutive years.

Six-time runner-up Phil Mickelson enters his 28th U.S. Open with a career Grand Slam on the line. It’s the fifth time he will play the major with the possibility of achieving the slam. Additionally, multiple past U.S. Open champions are vying for the top spot. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose are among the field.
